    Responsibilities

    Beech Acres Parenting Center ("The Beech" as we like to call it!) is seeking a Parenting Specialist to provide services at Crossroad Health Center. This role is responsible for assisting parents by providing needs assessments and assisting parents in identifying interventions that promote parent knowledge and skill building.   A typical day will include: 

    • Providing direct service support for parents and their families.
    • Ensuring flexibility in work scheduling to meet with parents when they are available.
    • Building and maintaining relationships with partner, e.g. pediatric practice staff, doctors and other community agencies.
    • Achieving designated utilization/productivity targets with direct service provision for the FY.
    • Engaging in continuous quality improvement practices routinely to support proof of concept practices.
    • Participating in learning process and ensure humility, collaboration, authentic dialogue and solution-focused practices
    • Engaging in planning activities to ensure productive implementation of model by attending planning meetings, participating in rapid learning cycles, collaborating with implementation team, and conducting rigorous feedback sharing.
    • Attending regularly scheduled supervision meetings and meetings to discuss progress, challenges, successes and needs regarding Parent Specialist service delivery.
    • Participating in Natural Strength Parenting model training and engage practices learned in direct service delivery.

    Qualifications

    • Associates Degree is required for this position (Degree in Sociology Criminal Justice, Human Services or related field).  Bachelors Degree preferred. 
    • 3-5+ years of experience in the mental health field or other system (like MRDD, Job & Family Services, Schools/Education), including experience working directly with kids and families. 
    • Able to engage parents in a trusting and respectful relationship
    • Knowledge of child development & brain development
    • Understanding of methods to identify parent needs and challenges
    • Expertise with social-emotional child development milestones
    • Trained in Motivational Interviewing and/or experience utilizing these techniques
    • Quality improvement process understanding
    • Experience and training in the effects of trauma, toxic stress and adversity
    • Proven ability to organize and share data collected
    • Open to travel throughout the community and a willingness to maintain a flexible schedule, to include availability of evening appointment times for clients.
    • A valid driver's license and current auto insurance coverage of $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident, and $100,000 property damage.
    • A background check, pre-employment drug screening and Bureau of Motor Vehicles check is required for this position.
