Responsibilities

Beech Acres Parenting Center is seeking a Therapeutic Service Provider intern - Beyond the Classroom (BtC) to join our award-winning team, in a school based setting located in our Greater Cincinnati Region. This role is about 16-20 hours a week with flexible scheduling options available (hours will be during standard business hours Monday-Friday, but can be flexible based on your schedule).  

Provides therapeutic behavioral service in a school-based setting for children whose mental health needs require active assistance and support to function in the least restrictive setting. 

 

  • Completes functional assessments, coordination of care, symptom monitoring, skill building, crisis support, advocacy and support in school as it directly relates to mental health symptomatology (i.e. coping, anger management, social skills development and independent living skills).
  • Maintain a Utilization requirement of billable hours documented in the proper electronic record system that includes individual service plan sessions, individual sessions, assisting students in crisis support services, leading groups, attending meetings to help coordination of care for a student, conversations with parent/ guardian about service connection, etc.
  • Practices therapeutic interventions to children through individual or group modalities for children on their caseload.
  • Models and coaches in classroom settings and milieu settings in partnership with schools’ staff to ensure that each child’s academic goals are met.
  • Complete documentation according to ODMHAS, COA and Beech Acres standards. This includes but not limited to progress notes, treatment plans, Ohio Scales, fee agreements, and discharge paperwork.
  • Works collaboratively and cross-functionally as a Beyond the Classroom team member to ensure holistic needs of kids and families are met.
  • This role is school based in nature and may require work outside of standard business hours to support family events, school events, parent meetings, client needs, etc. Travel throughout the community and to BAPC campuses is required.
  • This role may be required to complete in-home or community based services, to best meet the needs of clients.

 

Qualifications

  • Completing bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Family Studies, Psychology, Criminology or related area of study. Must have: High School Diploma and relevant work or school experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health symptoms and how they relate to functioning, diagnosis, medication and treatment interventions is also helpful.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to management daily, weekly, and monthly utilization requirements– schedule time management, caseload management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to work collaboratively to support the team’s achievement of shared goals and outcomes.
